Report in newspaper (click to read)
I am poised between past and future, carrying forward experience and looking to the future. Weight in Gold examines the equilibrium in a person’s state of being; the balance of thoughts, traits, emotions, memories and aspirations that define us. Drawing on Jung’s use of gold as an alchemical metaphor for a state of ideal being, and using coal as a representation of the past laid bare - 300 million years of pressed memories unearthed for all to see.I sit painted gold, balanced by my weight in coal, juxtaposed between past memories and future aspirations.
